Daniel Hartley – Founder & Home Design Strategist

Daniel Hartley is a U.S.-based interior strategist renowned for his work in integrating architectural lighting and spatial harmony across a wide range of living environments. With over 16 years of field experience, Daniel has led more than 120 residential projects, ranging from minimalist urban lofts to expansive coastal villas, always prioritizing the way space interacts with light and the behavior of its occupants.

A graduate in Interior Architecture, Daniel’s philosophy is rooted in timeless design over transient trends. His core expertise includes: ambient and task lighting schemes, open-plan zoning, modular furniture layout, and the psychology of personal space. He is particularly known for his ability to map natural daylight into floor plans to reduce energy dependency while enhancing spatial mood.

Daniel has consulted on interior transformations for clients in Houston, San Diego, Melbourne, and Bali, often collaborating with local artisans, structural engineers, and lighting manufacturers to tailor every space to its cultural and environmental context. In recent years, he’s turned his focus toward sensory design—experimenting with warm dimming technology, textural layering, and biophilic elements to elevate emotional comfort within the home.

His approach begins with spatial diagnosis, followed by behavioral mapping—how residents move, dwell, and relax in a space. He then crafts a design framework around light temperature, contrast control, and material composition. This process ensures each room supports both physical needs and psychological wellness.

Daniel’s work has been cited in regional architecture journals and featured in design showcases such as The Texas Modern Living Series (2022) and Coastal Home Innovation Forum (2023). He also mentors young interior designers through small-group workshops on layered lighting and transitional design.

Outside of his design practice, Daniel is an advocate for sustainable sourcing and neurodivergent-sensitive spatial design. He lives in Houston with his wife, an architectural illustrator, and their two children.
